Kickstarter is a way to fund creative projects. It’s an all or nothing campaign. An artist (musician, filmmaker, designer) sets a goal with a specific deadline and encourages people to pledge. The artist offers incentives to those who pledge; a most common incentive for funding a musician is a digital download of their new CD. If the artist does not reach their goal by the deadline, the project is not funded and the pledger is not charged for any of the amount pledged.
Chestnut House Concerts is excited to host 10 String Symphony and Tattletale Saints in April 2014. 10 String Symphony is a Nashville based duo that includes Christian Sedelmyer and Rachel Baiman, both playing the 5-string fiddle. As the is the norm for most musicians, both Christian and Rachel are involved in individual projects as well and Rachel is nearing the end of her Kickstarter Campaign for her first solo record.
Rachel is making a record of traditional and original fiddle tunes and songs, recorded half in Dunkeld, Scotland, and half in Nashville, TN. The goal is to mix up material and musicians stylistically, and create a cohesive album incorporating new sounds in traditional music from both places; Old-Time recorded in Scotland with Scottish musicians, Scottish tunes paired with original tunes, recorded in Nashville. An old time song written by Gillian Welch, with Phil Cunningham on accordion…the possibilities are endless and so beautiful.
